TUPANS
Next meeting – 20th February 2010
Townsville Underwater Photography and Naturalist Society’s mission is to add a little class to diving in Townsville by raising the standard of underwater photography and general knowledge of marine wildlife. We aim to encourage people to learn more about the oceans because in the words of the Senegalese conservationist Baba Dioum, “In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.”
TUPANS holds monthly social meetings with talks and discussions about underwater photography and different marine groups (absolute beginners who want to learn more are most welcome). We will occasionally hold workshops and competitions. We also give our members access to a library of photography and ID books and even a laptop with photo editing software. And out of all this, hopefully some dive trips will be organised so that we can actually practice what we’ve learnt.
Membership is free but we would appreciate a small donation if you wish to use the library. Donations will be used to expand the library to the benefit of all members. If anyone has ideas of good book, please let us know and we will add it to the list of books to get.
Meeting are currently held at the Riverside Tavern (247-251 Riverside Boulevard, Riverside Gardens). You can also join us on Facebook here.
